Viral Moment: Girl Hits Officer With Vape Before Leading Police On Wild Chase!

In a shocking incident that unfolded in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, a 22-year-old woman named Erica Verona has been charged after allegedly assaulting police officers during a welfare check. The event occurred late in the afternoon when authorities were called to assess her well-being due to a history of aggressive behavior.

Police and a community health resources representative arrived at Verona’s home after reports of her erratic behavior, including hitting herself and screaming for hours. Upon their arrival, Verona initially appeared calm but quickly became agitated when officers suggested she go to the hospital for evaluation. During the interaction, it was noted that she had not been compliant with her medication and had exhibited a pattern of violence towards herself and others.

The situation escalated dramatically when Verona insisted on charging her vape device. As officers attempted to prevent her from doing so, she struck one of them in the head with the vape before fleeing the scene in her vehicle. In her attempt to escape, she allegedly ran over two officers, dragging one of them with her car door, which resulted in injuries including a laceration to the officer’s forehead.

Following the incident, police issued a “be on the lookout” (BOLO) alert for Verona’s vehicle, which was later found abandoned about 10 miles away in a CVS parking lot. She was apprehended without incident shortly thereafter. Authorities confirmed that both officers involved were treated for their injuries, with one requiring stitches.

Verona now faces multiple charges, including two counts of assault on a police officer, two counts of interfering with an officer, two counts of reckless endangerment, and breach of peace. This incident marks yet another troubling episode in a series of encounters with law enforcement, as online records indicate that Verona has a lengthy history of legal issues, including previous charges for breach of peace and disorderly conduct.

The case has raised questions about mental health resources and the challenges faced by law enforcement when dealing with individuals in crisis. As Verona’s court date approaches this fall, the community remains concerned about the ongoing cycle of violence and the adequacy of mental health support systems in place.
